I worked at 'Outlook' for several years which you were instrumental in establishing and which is the only NHS service for those with appearance concerns. Your personality and charisma always filled the space you were in and your ability to hold an audience was always remarakable . A phenomenon I frequently observed at conferences, CF events and as an invited speaker at Frenchay after Burns (FAB) , our charity for children dealing with the legacy of burn injuries in the South West. I spoke to you a few years ago for the last time at a BBA conference , off the podium so to speak , and I was touched by your quiet relaying of the battles with your illness . A conversation that I will keep as a precious glimpse of the man who had the ability and will to shift policy and prejudice .
