Had the privilege of knowing James for 20+ years. When the Healing Foundation (now Scar Free) was founded in 1999, James was the charismatic giant of the ‘disfigurement’ community; and remained so. Always driven, passionate and single-minded in his support for the cause of equality he was a whirlwind of energy, more so when he’d enter a meeting after an especially arduous cycle ride. Hard to imagine anyone following his example or filling his shoes. He will leave a space and a legacy that will last long.
